MisFit by name. Meticulous by nature.
“MisFit” is our little wink. We make beautiful, carefully crafted boards, then let each one be itself.
A generous juice groove here. A stainless-steel tray there. Feet on one, a different profile on another. Some have cutouts, some deeper channels, and every piece of wood brings its own grain and color.
Our boards are already made when you meet them. You choose the one whose size, features, and personality feel right for your kitchen. A bit like falling for a rescue dog: you meet the individual, and something just clicks.

Our workshop calls vibrant Montclair, New Jersey, home. It’s where two brothers bring together a lifelong love of woodworking, a steady stream of ideas, and an occasionally spirited difference of opinion.
Our wood’s journey begins farther afield. We methodically source our maple, cherry, and walnut from rural Pennsylvania and upstate New York, choosing each piece with the finished board in mind. Back at the workshop, careful hands and patient craftsmanship turn that beautiful hardwood into a MisFit ready for its Forever Kitchen.

JAYCEE / THE CRAFTSMAN
Steady paws. A generous heart.
The older brother, lifelong woodworker, and patient soul of the workshop. Jaycee has a gift for seeing what a piece of wood can become—and the skill to get it there.
Gentle by nature and particular about his work, he gives every board the attention he gives the people he cares about. He’s happiest at the bench, making something worth keeping.
KAYCEE / THE IDEAS DEPARTMENT
Serious face. More bark than bite.
Our resident Pit Bull has the look of someone who’s just spotted an error in the spreadsheet. Underneath it: a creative mind, loyal to our pack, and a fierce pride in what we make.
Kaycee brings the business experience, the ideas, and the determination to find our boards good homes. His enthusiasm occasionally needs a leash. Jaycee keeps one handy.
03 / OUR FIRST VENTURE
Our first business never got off the ground.
Literally. A true childhood story, retold with a little more fur.
THE BIG IDEA
Two pups. One flight plan.
When we were kids, Dad took us up in a small, single-engine plane. Seeing our neighborhood from the sky was magic. Naturally, we decided to build our own airplane and sell rides to the neighborhood.
How hard could it be?
THE EARLY SALES
Tickets before takeoff.
Jaycee got to work on the plane. Kaycee got to work on the revenue. Why wait for a working aircraft when you could sell tickets now?
Business was brisk. Engineering was less cooperative. Eventually, we had a grounded airplane, a pocketful of money, and customers expecting a view.
THE REAL LESSON
Every dollar. Every doorstep.
We went to Dad for advice. He was not impressed. His instructions were clear: return every penny, go door to door, and apologize.
It was a long walk with our tails between our legs. But the lesson stayed: own your mistakes, keep your word, and do the right thing—even when it’s uncomfortable.
